Seventh Grade

The Christendom Year

PreAlgebra

In seventh grade, students continue to grow as learners and thinkers. In math, they will study Pre-Algebra, building confidence with problem-solving strategies using variables while strengthening their understanding of algebra, ratios, percents, and integers. They will also take a deeper look at geometry, exploring concepts such as the area and perimeter of polygons, the circumference and area of circles, and the surface area and volume of polyhedrons.

History

History studies will guide students through the story of Christendom, beginning with the fall of the Roman Empire and continuing through the Renaissance. Along the way, they will learn about the growth of the Early Church, the Byzantine and Holy Roman Empires, the Reformation, and the important events that set the stage for the Enlightenment.

Literature and Composition

Literature and composition will bring these historical eras to life. Students will read classics such as The Song of Roland, excerpts from the Magna CartaKing Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and Shakespeare’s Macbeth. They will also enjoy G.K. Chesterton’s Lepanto and poetry by great Renaissance and Reformation writers like Marlowe, Donne, Herbert, and Milton. Writing assignments will help students develop their voice and creativity through essays, journal entries, letters, newspaper articles, poetry, myths or legends, and even their own short stories.

Grammar

In Grammar, students will polish their language skills as they review parts of speech, sentence structure, punctuation, and word usage. Daily practice with editing and diagramming sentences helps them become clear and confident writers.

Latin

Latin studies continue with a review of earlier concepts before moving into more advanced material. Students will complete First Form Latin and begin Second Form Latin, building a strong foundation in vocabulary, grammar, and translation skills that support both language learning and logical thinking.

Religion

Religion class will focus on The Life of Grace from the Faith and Life series. Students will discover how God reveals Himself through creation, the prophets, and Scripture. They will also learn more about Jesus—His mission, His grace, and the founding of His Church—and explore how He shares His life with us through the sacraments and a life of virtue.

Science

Science this year will be Life Science, where students will study the wonders of God’s creation through topics such as ecology, cells and heredity, the diversity of living things, and the systems of the human body.
